Assistant Store Manager

Over the last three years the Grab a Bargain Variety Store has started an exciting transformation.

These changes have resulted in a period of significant sales growth & we are now looking towards taking the next stage in this growth. This stage will include delivering affordable and aspirational merchandise categories including Homewares, Kitchenware, Home Décor, Catering supplies, Personal care and Arts and Crafts to name a few. To support this growth we have an exciting & newly created role to join our dedicated team. We are looking for an energetic, inspiring and customer focused Assistant Store Manager to join our Store. The Assistant Store Manager will lead the team, inspire success and support the Managing Director in all areas of people and store management.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Managing Director to ensure store and company objectives are achieved, in line with financial and operational goals. 
  • Assisting with the achievement of sales, wages and inventory budgets.
  • Ensure the customer perspective is a driving force behind all decisions and store activities
  • Foster a collaborative, fun and results driven team environment

About you:

This is an ideal position for a natural leader with exceptional customer service, sales and organisational skills. In addition to these qualities, you will also possess the following:

  • Leadership and development training (highly desirable). 
  • Experience in managing a retail store
  • A commitment to workplace health and safety practices 
  • Strong visual merchandising standards and attention to detail
  • Confident and clear communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and influencing sales skills
  • Strong mentoring and coaching abilities
  • The ability to multitask and excel under pressure
  • Computer literacy
  • Be First Aid Qualified, or be willing to be trained at the businesses expense

Trainee Administration Assistant

This brand new role has become available as the business has grown and there is now a need to expand our administration capacity.

The role will include on the job training and the ability to complete a Certificate II in Business Administration.

You will commence your training in the Retail Store, this will give you the opportunity to gain a full understanding of the Point of Sale system, customer orders, stock receival and general customer service skills which will demonstrate the processes and policies that will flow through into the administration role that you will undertake.

This role is ideal for a school leaver or someone wanting to commence a career in Administration.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Inventory updates, invoice receivals
  • Stock code creation and updates
  • Update and maintain accurate SOH including conducting stock counts and investigation of variances
  • Manage website orders and customer contact for orders
  • Assist the sales team during busy periods in the store
  • Take incoming calls and messages 
  • Check for post and drop off parcels 
  • Create and print instore ticketing as required
  • Other administrative tasks as requested

Skills required:

  • Strong problem solving skills
  • An ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Mathematically strong
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal 

This role will be a permanent role requiring 30-35 hours per week.

Remuneration will be based on the experience and age of the candidate.
